July 10 event at Wonderland of the Americas has something for everyone

San Antonio, Texas — The sounds of registers is what you usually hear at a shopping mall. But, on July 10, the sounds of bouncing basketballs and Zumba will fill Wonderland of the Americas with the first-ever San Antonio Sports’ Fit Family Challenge Day.

“Since Fit Family Challenge began on May 1, we have inspired several thousand families to get active and start eating healthier,” said Susan Blackwood, San Antonio Sports executive director. “Fit Family Challenge Day at Wonderland is a FREE event for families to play together and do it in an air-conditioned setting.”

Head coach of the program Jesse James Leija will be at the event to motivate kids, parents and grandparents to work out together.  The two-time world boxing champ encourages adults to be role models.

“We are role models to our kids and their friends,” said Jesse James Leija. “If we are fit, our kids will follow our lead. We’ve got to take ownership of our health because our children are the future.”

Basketball, soccer clinics, Zumba, line dancing, healthy food demonstrations, food, prizes and more will be waiting for families at Fit Family Challenge Day at Wonderland of the Americas. The mall was formerly Crossroads Mall and is locates at 4523 Fredericksburg Road, 78201.

San Antonio Sports created the Fit Family Challenge to improve the health of San Antonio families through family-friendly activity and nutrition. The goal is to inspire 10,000 people to get active and moving:

  • Get active 30-60 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week
  • Make a commitment for your family to eat healthier
  • Attend three (3) Fit Family Challenge events

The Fit Family Challenge ends with a finale bash at Sea World on Saturday, September 11.

There is still plenty of time for families to join and become eligible to win big grand prizes at the finale bash.
